7. What happens if it’s raining?

Over the 90km course it can rain in one section and be fine and sunny in another. Riders should be prepared for all weather. The event goes ahead rain or shine, unless there is a significant danger to participants because of poor visibility, lightning, storms, or strong winds.

8. Can I buy food at the Lunch Stop in the Royal National Park?

Packed lunches have to be ordered in advance when you enter. You must nominate where you want to collect your lunch from - lunch stop or finish site. When you receive your entry kit you will also receive a voucher to redeem your lunch from your chosen location. Please remember to take this voucher with you on the day.

Alternatively we will be operating a barbeque for those who did not pre-order lunch so remember to
bring some small change. Other food outlets will be present at the finish site.

9. What happens if I breakdown or if I can’t complete the ride?

Up to 500 volunteers will be working along the route, as well as bike mechanics and first aid personnel. They are ready and happy to provide assistance to anyone who may breakdown, feel ill or experience other difficulties.

We recommend that you have your bike serviced before the ride and carry a puncture repair kit and pump.
If you breakdown turn your bike upside down and wait.

If we cannot get you going again or you feel you cannot complete the ride, we have a bus and trailer that will collect you and your bike and transport you to the finish site.

10. Does it get very crowded?

Even though there are up to 10,000 cyclists on the road, it only gets crowded along a few short sections of the course. Cyclists start over a three hour period and soon spread over the route.

11. How safe is it?

We do everything possible to make the course safe. If you follow basic road safety rules, drink plenty of fluids and follow instructions from route marshals, particularly on the downhill sections, you'll have a safe and enjoyable ride.

12. What about insurance?

You are not covered by MS Australia for injuries if an accident occurs. We recommend that you obtain personal accident insurance before taking part. This type of cover is available through membership of Bicycle NSW .

For a $3 donation you can have a small backpack delivered to the finish for collection after 11am. Please ensure that clothing is wrapped in sealed plastic bags for weather protection and is clearly labelled. All care will be taken but we accept no responsibility for lost or damaged items.
