Fundraiser Profile

Name: Adam McTackett
Occupation: Sales Rep – Puma Australia
Number of Members in Team: 33 members for 2007 with the view to double that in 2008
Fundraising Total for 2007: Close to $16,000, not bad for a first year!

How did your team go about reaching your fundraising total?

Word of mouth that Team MacDog was taking part in the event to support 1 of their mates who has MS. One of the guys said that if the team raised $5000 he would ride in a MANKINI!

$5000 was raised early on and the money was still coming in so the team decided that for every additional $1000 raised another team member would also wear a mankini.

This incentive helped us raise money and saw more people don the mankini for the event.

How easy and rewarding did your team find fundraising?

Fundraising was fairly easy for the team, we used word of mouth and emails through the duration of the event to raise funds. Everyone was happy to see an additional rider in a mankini which I think made the task that much easier as someone else was going to put in the costume.

Emails were sent to team members friends and families who then forwarded to their friends and families etc, etc. The team also got all their work colleagues involved.

How did your team go riding on the day?

Personally I was not sure that I could finish the ride at all but was determined as soon as I started riding that I would cross the finish line with my mates that started team "MacDog."

The support I received from them all during the ride was great and really helped me get across the finish line. I had signed up for the ride without any of them knowing till the morning of the ride and did it as sort of my way of saying thanks to them for the support they have given me and the things they had done for me.

I also wanted to do the ride to prove that I may have MS but it hasn’t STOPPED me from doing what I want.

Are team MacDog coming back in 2008?

Most definitely however we will be wearing more clothes than last year!
