How did you achieve so far above your fundraising target?

I sent an email to all our dealers and client advisers (I work for a stockbroking firm), and some external contacts and friends. I briefly explaining the event and how easy it was to sponsor me online and how they would receive a receipt immediately.

I also included a picture of an old bike for the humour angle, always helps giving people a laugh.

How do you explain your success? Any hints?

As the sponsorship came in I periodically sent out a general email naming and thanking all those who had sponsored me. This was the real key to successfully fundraising such a large amount, as it encouraged and reminded those who had not yet donated to make the effort and support a great cause.
