Matched Funding

Many companies budget for charitable donations and have matched funding schemes to both support a worthwhile cause and their employees. Even if there is currently no such program in place, they may be more than willing to contribute towards your efforts in supporting a good cause.

Company Donation

If your company will not match your efforts then they still may be prepared to donate towards your fundraising goal by way of a company donation. All you have to do is ask!

Here’s how to go about applying

• Enquire within your HR Department or ask your boss as to the possibility of matched funding or a company donation.
  
  If more information is required about the organisation, the event, or they wish to speak to someone from MS Australia, please contact us and we will be more than happy to assist you with anything you may need.
  
• Your company may require an official application to be made via email, letter or official application form.
  
  In this application, communicate what you plan to achieve, where funds raised will go and facts about MS. We can assist you in writing the letter or provide you with a sample.
  
  The company may also ask for specific information about the charity e.g. Certificate of Currency, official endorsement from the ATO or the Dept of Gaming and Racing etc. For these supporting documents, simply contact us and we can arrange delivery or fax immediately.
  
  
• Don’t forget to thank the company for their support. We can provide you with a letter of thanks and also provide the company with a certificate acknowledging their efforts.
  
  

Use your personal or team webpage to promote their generosity

Refer them to your online fundraising page and let them know how you can promote the company’s effort. You could put the company logo on the page or change your message to “every dollar donated will be matched by <company name> to support those affected by MS.” Remind them that their support will encourage others to donate (especially if funds are being matched).

Let them know that all information they require can be supplied in a timely manner and they will be acknowledged for their efforts.

Ask them if you can promote your web page link through a global email, the intranet or the company newsletter, thereby promoting the companies support and prompting employees to donate.
