About MS

Multiple Sclerosis is a disease of the central nervous system that affects more young adult Australians than any other neurological condition.

Generally diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40, when family and career responsibilities are at their most demanding, this debilitating disease affects almost three times as many women as men. MS has
an enormous impact not only on the life of the person diagnosed, but on the whole family.

The progress, severity and symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis cannot be predicted. People with MS may experience varying degrees of impaired vision, speech difficulties, loss of balance and muscle coordination, limb weakness, extreme tiredness, short term memory loss and, in severe cases, partial or complete paralysis.

There is no proven cause, no cure and no way of knowing who might be diagnosed with this
unpredictable disease.

Your support of the MS Brissie to the Bay Bike Ride will help the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Queensland
to provide services for Queenslanders living with MS and fund research into finding a cure for this mystery disease.
