Fundraising Tips!

We've scoured the globe, searched high and low, to bring you the very best advice on how to reach your fundraising target!

Want to fundraise for the MS Society of Queensland, but don't know where to start?

Here are some handy hints that some of our highest fundraisers have found useful to help reach their fundraising targets.

• Keep your sponsorship book with you at all times. You never know who you will come across that may
be willing to donate to this worthy cause.
• Make sure the first person to sponsor you gives you a reasonable donation, or make a pledge yourself.
Others will often follow by example.
• Collect the money up front if possible.
• Set a target for you or your team.
• Ask sponsors to pay a bonus if you finish the ride within a certain time.
• Enlist friends and family to find sponsors for you.
• Publicise the fact that you are taking part in the event. Display your sponsorship forms on your notice
boards at work for people to fill in - make sure there are some pledges on it first!
• Many companies sponsor their employees. Some match what their employees raise dollar for dollar.
Ask your company to do the same.
• If your company or supplier cannot donate cash, maybe they would like to donate a product that we
could use at a future date as a raffle or auction prize.
• Agree to wear your company's t-shirt, hat or anything! Publicity and promotion are definitely worth
sponsorship dollars. If you are a group of friends, a local company may sponsor you if you wear their
  merchandise.
• A fun marketing strategy is to place your cycling shoes on your desk with a sign above saying
"Help these cycling shoes pedal 50km for MS!”
• Place an article in your company newsletter - give people the opportunity to help you by pledging
  sponsorship and reaching your target.
• Download the email sponsorship plea, and insert your name and details before using your email networks
to spread the word on your sponsorship requests.
• Give people progress reports on your training and fundraising, helping them better understand the efforts
  you personally are putting in.
• Be assertive. Ask anyone and everyone to sponsor you. Remember the minute that you limit who you ask;
you limit the amount you will raise.

Not sure if they will work for you?
