When I arrived at Seton College in 2000, I decided to organise a Seton College Bike Team to enter the MS Brissie to the Bay Bike Ride that year. Our basic aim is to raise money for the MS Society of Queensland, but the spin offs for the students and our community are numerous. Students participate in a large community activity, learn to be accountable for money and receipt books, keep records, experience being part of a winning team and generally have a lot of fun. The school community also becomes involved with parents, past students, friends and relatives riding, fundraising or helping out at our Base Camp BBQ. Our Team has certainly grown since our first bikeathon and in recent years we have had over 200 riders and have raised more than $10,000 each year. We have raised over $76,000 during our 7 year involvement with the MS Bikeathon. We often win the Highest Fundraising Educational Team and the Largest Fundraising Team trophies. This is a fantastic achievement considering our small school population (230 students in total). The MS Brissie to the Bay Bike Ride has become a real focus for us, the students love it and it's now an annual part of our School calendar!"
