AFA MSquerade Ball

Audi AFA MSQuerade Ball
The
inaugural Audi AFA MSQuerade Ball was held on Saturday
19 April 2008 at Brisbane City Hall. The event was hosted
by the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Queensland in conjunction
with Audi and the Association of Financial Advisors (AFA).
The night was a great success and everyone involved had a wonderful time. It was truly a night of elegance. The entertainment was thoroughly enjoyable with performances by Toni Powell, La Forza, The Singing Waiters, and The Zookeepers kept everyone dancing until the close.
Triple M Radio and television personality Ian Skippen did a wonderful job MCing the evening and Channel 10's Bill McDonald and 97.3 FM's Paul Campo did a great job with the live auctions.
The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Queensland would like to thank it's generous supporter, Audi Centre Brisbane and also the guests and volunteers that made this a magical event.
For
more information on the 2009 event, phone 1800 287 367 or visit the website http://thanksamillion.org.au/portal/index.php.

Foundation
5 Million Campaign

|
Don't
M_S_ this chance to find a cure!
Join
Foundation 5 Million in raising $5 million to help find a
cure for Multiple Sclerosis.
Foundation
5 Million, known as F5m, has been established to give 'People
with MS' (PwMS) the opportunity to assist through direct contributions
or by their own fundraising efforts to play a leading role
in finding a cure for MS.
Now
people with MS, and their family and friends, have the opportunity
to directly contribute to the quest for a cure by supporting
the Foundation 5 Million campaign.
F5m's
single focus is to raise $5 million to support research into
a cure for MS. While a $5 million fundraising target
may sound daunting, consider this: it could be achieved instantly
if 2000 people from the MS community raise $2500 each!
F5m
is about PwMS doing it for themselves and showing the community
that PwMS do continue to make a strong contribution to our
society every day. There are many ways you can get behind
this novel fundraising campaign and the F5m help hotline has
a huge number of ideas to help you plan your fundraising event.
For example, you could host a breakfast, lunch or dinner or
organise a golf day, tennis tournament or fishing trip.
Or, take your pick from a trivia night and talent quest, to
a swimathon or sausage sizzle.
For
further information or to register your interest, contact
the F5m Campaign Team on 1300 356 467 or visit the website. |

Record
Numbers Take a Step in the Right Direction
Despite
threatening skies and predictions of possible storms, Queenslanders
turned out in record numbers to support people with Multiple
Sclerosis at this year's MS MoonWalk. More than 1300 men,
women and children entered the 2007 MS MoonWalk: double the
number of entrants who participated in last year's event!
This
novel annual fundraiser is enjoying an increasingly high profile
on Brisbane 's event calendar. Timed to coincide with the
full moon, the MS MoonWalk takes entrants in a 10 kilometre
circuit from South Bank Parklands via Kangaroo Point Cliffs,
the Story Bridge and the Botanic Gardens.
More
and more entrants are getting into the spirit of the event
by collecting sponsorship to support people with MS. This
year's MS MoonWalk raised gross $65,000. Equally importantly,
the event helps to spread awareness of Multiple Sclerosis
which affects more young adults than any other neurological
disorder.
Our
sincere thanks to all entrants, to our hard-working volunteer
crew and to our generous sponsors: Bank of Queensland; 4BH
882 Southern Cross; South Bank; Fitness First; Screen Offset
Printing and S&M Design. Thanks also to our media partner,
Network Ten, which helped to promote this event.
Congratulations
to the winners of our Fundraiser's Prize Draw: Jocelyn Kirkham
(Conrad Treasury Brisbane Accommodation Package), Margaret
Walker (Fitness Pack) and Jenny Davis (Cycling Pack).
And
well done to the enthusiastic team from Bank of Queensland
who entered the largest team (more than 50 participants) AND
raised the largest amount in sponsorship (more than $7000)!
Jocelyn Kirkham took out honours as the Highest Individual
Fundraiser, collecting over $4,000 in sponsorship.
On
behalf of Queenslanders with Multiple Sclerosis, thank you all!
Stay
tuned for 2008 event details - available from early September
along with opening of registrations. Remember to register
early to receive the early bird discount!
