MS Readathon

June 1 – June 30

MS Australia is once more encouraging children to have fun reading to change the lives of Australians living with multiple sclerosis (MS) by taking part in the annual MS Readathon.

2009 is the 30th MS Readathon! For 30 years we have been visiting schools and asking kids to read for a reason. What a great achievement! The MS Readathon is Australia’s premier reading-based fundraiser and is one of the largest fundraisers for MS Australia.

So far in Tasmania this year we have visited around 115 schools across the state and had just over 2000 people register to participate in the program. But we still need your help!

Tasmania has the highest prevalence of MS per capita in Australia, with around 600 Tasmanian’s living with MS. All the money raised by MS Readathon participants in Tasmania stays in Tasmania to benefit those in our communities living with this mystery disease. Every dollar we raise counts!

Did you know that the MS Readathon is open to ALL ages? Anyone can take part. You are never too young or too old! You can read anything that is at your reading level: newspapers, books, magazines, online reading, comics…..  the list of reading possibilities goes on!

You can also register as a team. Are you a member of a book group? Your group can register as a team! Sports groups, work places and child care centres can also register!
