Application to list Sativex on the PBS

medicinal cannabis
18 December 2019

MS Australia has been informed by Emerge Health that they have made an application to the March 2020 meeting of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) to have the medicinal cannabis product Sativex listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) for spasticity in MS.  If successful, this would reduce the price of Sativex to $40.30 or $6.50 if you have a concession card. This is the first application to the PBS for the listing of a medicinal cannabis product in Australia.

Consumers are encouraged to make submissions to PBAC about this product.  Consumer comments open from 24 December 2019 and close on 12 February 2020, please visit: http://www.pbs.gov.au/info/industry/listing/elements/pbac-meetings/pbac-consumer-comments

If you have been prescribed Sativex, we’d love to hear about your experience.  Is it effective?  What does it help you with?  You can respond to our Facebook post or contact us on info@msaustralia.org.au
