Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

The Food and Drug Administration is an American government agency which is responsible for regulating and supervising the use of medications and medical devices. One of its roles is to certify medications. Medications are typically submitted to either the FDA or the European equivalent, the European Medicines Agency (EMA), before they are submitted to the Australian equivalent known as the Therapeutic Goods Agency (TGA).
