Oxidative stress

Oxidative stress is an imbalance between the production of free radicals and antioxidants in your body. Free radicals are molecules that can be produced in the body during normal biological processes and during disease. They contain oxygen with an uneven number of electrons which leaves them slightly unstable and able to react easily with other molecules, sometimes causing damage. Antioxidants are molecules naturally found in the body, or also consumed in our food, that can safely react with, and essentially mop up, free radicals.
