MS Australia 2025 Federal Election Statement

28 March 2025

MS Australia is very pleased to see that health is the number one issue in this election, with solid commitments to reduce the costs of medicine and improve access to bulk billed services in general practice.

But we are yet to see any mention of medical research.

There are 33,300 people living with MS and 7 million Australians living with neurological conditions.

They want to see much-needed investment in a neurological research mission to bring us closer to cures, improve treatments and help prevent disease from occurring.

There is $1.2 billion available from the Medical Research Future Fund for supporting medical research in the coming financial year.

But the Budget allocates a little over half of this to actually fund research.

I call on the major parties to fund a desperately needed neurological research mission and to unlock the full funding for medical research.

Seven million Australians need your help.
