Budgets and Elections

MS Australia advocates for funding to improve the lives of people living with MS through:

    • Pre-budget submissions which outline our funding asks across medical research, health, disability, social services and aged care.
    • Responding to the funding outlined in the federal budget

Federal Budgets

2025-26 Federal Budget

Building on our asks over the previous two budgets, MS Australia’s 2025-26 pre-budget submission has four asks that will improve the lives of people living with MS and reduce the economic impact of MS on the Australian health, disability, social services and aged care systems:

  1. MS Research and Data: Research to prevent people from developing MS, improve early diagnosis and develop effective treatments and interventions to slow or prevent disease progression through funding a National MS Biobank, a Neurological Mission, and improved neurological data
  2. MS Nurses: Improved access to MS Nurses across Australia for people living with MS through additional nurses, a national MS Nurses national strategy, a MS Nurses pilot and the development of a MS nursing microcredential
  3. Disability: Improved support for people with MS living with disability through improved NDIS pricing, a better NDIA workforce, a better disability sector workforce, housing and living supports, assistive technology, improved income support and implementing the recommendations of the Disability Royal Commission
  4. Aged Care: Improve the lives of older people living with MS through increased funding under the Support at Home Program

2024-25 Federal Budget
