- InforMS is a new app designed to help AMSLS participants manage their MS in one convenient place – track symptoms, store health data, and collaborate with healthcare teams.
- Developed by researchers, healthcare professionals, and people living with MS, InforMS reflects real-life needs and supports personalised care.
- By using InforMS, participants contribute anonymous data to MS research, helping improve understanding and treatment of MS across Australia.
Living with MS can be a lot to manage. From appointments with healthcare professionals to scans, changing medications, and unpredictable symptoms – it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. That’s why the InforMS app was created – to make it simpler for you to track and manage your MS, all in one place.
Please note that the linkage of MSBase and My Health Record to InforMS is anticipated as part of upcoming system updates.
What can you do with InforMS?
With InforMS you can:
- Record your symptoms and monitor how they change over time,
- Store important health information
- Share insights with your healthcare team to help them make more informed decisions.
How to use InforMS?
You can access InforMS on your smartphone, tablet, or desktop, wherever it suits you. You can also import data from wearables (like smartwatches), fitness apps, and the Australian MS Longitudinal Study (AMSLS) to build a more complete picture of your health. Currently, InforMS is open to all AMSLS participants.
Developed by experts, shaped by experience
InforMS was developed by researchers at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research in collaboration with MS Australia, Monash University, Healthcare Software, healthcare professionals and people living with MS. Your experiences shaped the app, making it more useful, relevant and responsive to what you actually need.
Supporting research while managing your MS
When you use InforMS, you’re not just managing your health – you’re also helping researchers at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research better understand MS. The app collects anonymous data that supports research into new treatments and ways to support people living with MS.
The long-term goal is to make InforMS available to everyone with MS in Australia. Future updates will let you import data from MSBase and My Health Record, making the app even more powerful and personalised.
Why InforMS matters
InforMS is more than just a health tracking tool – it’s a step toward transforming how MS is understood and managed in Australia. By combining personal health insights with research-driven data, InforMS empowers individuals while accelerating scientific discovery. As more people join, InforMS has the potential to become a national resource that improves care, informs policy, and brings us closer to a future where MS is better understood, treated, and ultimately cured.
MS Australia is proud to be co-funding the development of InforMS as part of a 2019 National Health and Medical Research Partnership Grant (NHMRC Grant ID 1193008*).
