One of the goals of managing MS is to control the progress of disabilities. More detailed predictions of disability status are needed to allow for more meaningful insights into MS disease progression.
Dr Valery Fuh-Ngwa aims to improve our understanding of relapsing MS and its treatment in adults. The project will use data from the Australian Multiple Sclerosis Longitudinal Study (AMSLS), the international MSBase registry and AusLong, to analyse the evolution of disability status and, in people experiencing severe active relapses, compare the effectiveness of standard MS treatments to stem cell treatments. Dr Fuh-Ngwa will show how new methods of analysing health outcomes can be used to monitor the health of individuals. Finally, the project will offer a hands-on practical course to teach students and MS researchers how to properly analyse health outcomes produced by MS studies.
In developing new ways to analyse health outcomes, Dr Fuh-Ngwa and his team will help us understand how disability progresses in people living with MS over time. The project will guide new approaches to treatment that may improve both the short and long-term health of people living with MS.
