Support and Services

National

MS Australia is the national peak body for people affected by MS and is dedicated to advocacy, communications, education, and funding and coordinating multiple sclerosis (MS) research as part of the worldwide effort to solve MS.

The state and territory based MS organisations provide care and support services to people living with MS and other neurological and immunological conditions, including referral advice and information, individual assessments and support, employment support, living arrangements, connection with others and much more.

Government Support and Benefits

The Australian Government provides some supports to help Australians fund their health, disability and aged care needs and make them more affordable. By finding the supports that best suit your needs, it could help you to reduce the costs of living with MS, and make your day-to-day life easier.

There are many websites, departments and systems that Australians have to use to access government funded supports and benefits and sometimes navigating these systems can be confusing.

Below you will find a brief overview and links to the most relevant Australian Government web-sites.

Disability Related

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funds to support people with a permanent disability who are under 65 years old, including people living with MS.

The Disability Gateway is designed to assist all people with disability, their families and carers to navigate, locate and access services across Australia.

The Disability Support Pension (DSP) provides financial help if you have a permanent physical, intellectual or psychiatric condition that stops you from working.
