Catherine King welcomes Oceans of Hope

21 May 2015

Over 23,000 people live with MS in Australia and more than two million worldwide.

Every year another 1,000 Australians are diagnosed with this cruel disease, most of them aged between 20 and 40, and despite great advances in treatment and care, it remains a disease without a cure.

But we know one day that cure will be found, and the arrival of Oceans of Hope is a wonderful way to commemorate and celebrate this goal.

The circumnavigation of the globe by a yacht whose crew includes people living with multiple sclerosis is a magnificent inspiration to us of what people with MS can achieve.

On behalf of Federal Labor, congratulations and best wishes for World MS Day 2015 and let us hope in the near future this day becomes a celebration of our victory over multiple sclerosis.
