Please, please, please – if you haven’t done so already – sign up for this year’s May 50K. It’s our most important fundraising event for our world-class, life-changing MS research program. And its success relies entirely on you; the MS community, our friends and supporters.
By participating in the May 50K, you will have lots of fun! But, more importantly, you will be supporting MSA’s cutting-edge research program, including:
- Our new, world-leading PLATYPUS clinical trial which is assessing existing drugs currently used for other diseases that have neuroprotective or remyelinating properties to see if they can be effective treatments for progressive forms of MS
- Our nine research platforms, including our amazing MS Brain Bank, which supplies tissue to leading MS researchers here in Australia and across the world
- Five new MRFF research projects focussing on the one thing common to everyone with MS, the Epstein-Barr virus
- Our Incubator Grants, which help turn good ideas into grant ready proposals, a critical step to support innovative and new discoveries.
All this and much, much more. Importantly, our research is globally aligned and linked, working under the new international roadmap, Pathways to Cures.
With greater global collaboration, we are charging down the pathways to cures faster and further than ever before.
But we can’t do it without your support. Many charities have found fundraising tough in the past two years, as economic challenges and inflation have had a negative impact on donations.
Fundraising for MS has been no exception. That’s why your support is more important than ever before. We are committed to supercharging our research work for one clear reason.
Research is changing the lives of people living with MS every single day.
So please, if you haven’t already, and you are able to do so, sign up for the May 50K. You don’t have to run. You can roll, walk, dance, hop, or skip to a distance of your choosing.
If my arthritic legs hold up, I am attempting to run at least 150km for my cousin Clare and my niece’s partner, Jo.
I will have them in my thoughts every step of the way.
Thank you!
